My LIfe as an Addict

Yes, it is true…I am a TRAVEL ADDICT! And can you blame me? Before you read the rest of this blog post, check out the inspiration for it: http://www.buzzfeed.com/larap2/15-signs-youre-addicted-to-travel-aati

Okay, so if you’re anything like me, you can identify with most (if not all) of the above statements. I mean, let’s face it. I’m obsessed with traveling and all things related. And why not? I feel most alive when I’m exploring new places and meeting people from different corners of the world. That’s why I currently work with international students!

This may sound cheesy, but Avicii’s song ‘’Wake Me Up“ totally speaks to me. Have you ever listed to the lyrics?

Feeling my way through the darkness
Guided by a beating heart
I can’t tell where the journey will end
But I know where to start

They tell me I’m too young to understand
They say I’m caught up in a dream
Well life will pass me by if I don’t open up my eyes
Well that’s fine by me

[2x]
So wake me up when it’s all over
When I’m wiser and I’m older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didn’t know I was lost

I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don’t have any plans

There is more to the song, but this is where similarities end. I hope to travel the world and I DO have TONS of plans! 🙂

So back to the BuzzFeed article, I can identify with all of it. The daydreaming, the passion for adventure, watching every episode of House Hunters International. It all describes my life. And I’m so grateful. Because of this curiosity, I have had the privilege of traveling to over 23 countries, meeting amazing people from all corners of the world, obtain work in a diverse work environment, and most importantly, I’ve had the opportunity to ‘find myself’.

So who am I? Well, I guess I’m still wandering, but I’m not lost. As J. R. R. Tolkien wrote for The Lord of the Rings:

“Not all those who wander are lost”.

I simply wander because it makes me a better person and it fills my heart with a type of joy, contentment and energy that I can’t quite explain.

So tell me, what do you feel when you travel?
